FINAL 2014 SPRING REGULAR SEASON STATS
DAZED 40 – MOBB 34 (OT) …. Mas threw for 424 yards while connecting on 20 of 37 … he passed for 3 td’s and rushed for 2 others …Toro is one of the most consistent players at providing big plays for his team and he didn't’ disappoint here as he finished with 8 receptions for 137 yards and 2 scores and also returned a punt for a touchdown late in regulation … Tank (7-150-1) is officially on fire this season and scored the walk-away winning td in OT on a 51 yard jaunt …Clutch (3-73) and Dave (2-64) each came up with big plays … defensively, Keenan had a pretty good day with 3 sacks against that usually stingy Mobb front … DVS also had a sack … Icon completed 30 of 48 for 435 yards and 5 td’s … Birdman (10-126-2) had his most productive outing of the season so far … Papi (8-125) plucked his 4th interception of the season, to move up to 3rd on the all-time list in that department … Jarrod (from 70 yards) and Cojo (11 yards) grabbed td’s … Trippz balled and finished with 4 sacks … Alstott had a sack also ….
PREDATORS 25 – RAIDERS 14 … Mag B (25-13-174-2-1) surpassed Hall of Famer and ex-Mustang quarterback Broadway as the leagues all-time leader in passing yards … he came into the game needing 131 yards and broke the record fittingly on a 31 yard touchdown pass … the td was hauled in by Johnny, who had probably one of the top individual performances in a game this season, as he accounted for all the Predators touchdowns - 2 td catches on 3 receptions for 90 yards and took 2 interceptions back for scores (1 from 19 yards out and the other from 41) … Kenny and Energy each had a sack … The Raiders actually out gained the Predz offensively (301 total yards to Predz 174) as B. Smith scored on a intercepted 2-point play plus threw for 265 and 2 scores – 1 to Kurt from 2 yards out and a wacky ricochet reception by Smitty, who took it 35 yards for the td … Prolific (6-84) and Big Red (4-59) were the most frequented targets … EZE picked up his 10th,11th and 12th sacks of the year and is setting his sights on J-Rod’s record of 22 in a season …Koda’s (1 sack and a batted ball) presence was also felt in the pit …Nyce had a pick in the endzone …
RED RAIDERS 45 – VAPORS 12 … RR bounced back with a huge win after dropping their last 2 before having their bye-week ... Wheaties was sharp, hitting on 12 of his 16 pass attempts for 256 yards and 5 touchdowns while also picking up another 60 and a score on the ground … Boog was big – scoring on two big 50 yard bombs … Mr.Manley (2-70-1), Simba (2-40-1) and HeHateMe (1-10-1) all caught td receptions also … Jim Jones rushed for a 3 yard score and had a pick … Mike had a pick also and Mr. Wonderful grabbed a sack … D-Dubb helped set the tone early with some savvy flag-snatching stops … Vapors started Ish at qb for the injured Janz and he finished with 172 yards on 15 of 24 passing … Surprise helped his team make the final score a little more respectable late in the game by catching a short td from Ish and then returning an interception for the games final points …Blake had a pick for the Vapors, who’ve now dropped their last 2 games
TEAM X 36 – JC WARRIORS 0 … if you watched the game, you would have thought it was much closer than the score indicates …Warriors QB Zo (31-15-189-0-0) was turn-over free and looked comfortable in the pocket as his “O-Line” did a respectable job allowing just 1 sack on the day (by X’s Shannon) … Perry (6-93 and 2 sacks) continues to prove he’s one of JC’s biggest play-makers …Schmelz caught 3 for 36 and Far Rock was involved with 2 receps for 31 yards and 2 sacks … but Team X is riding the magic carpet ride as the story of the season so far and their leader Juice was pretty accurate with the ball – hitting on 81% of his passes for 220 yards, 4 scores and no turnovers … Matt continues to wreck havoc on defenses and finished with 3 touchdowns and 90 yards on his 4 receptions … his twin counterpart Mike (3-43-1) is also producing … Ryan hauled in 3 for 34 yards and Money is becoming something like a deep-threat of late, averaging 27.8 yards per reception over the last 3 games, including his 35 yard td catch in this game, as X rolls on with their 4th straight win …
DUCKS 42 – SOA 19 …Bizzy completed 22 of 37 for 381 yards and 5 scores …Charlie caught 8 for 181 and 2 long scores (from 50 and 60) … Truck rumbled and stumbled for 35 yards on his 4 receptions and had a sack .. Shorty (3-100-2) once again shined on the other side of the ball … Crudup (3-45-1) is another weapon in the Ducks arsenal … defensively, E-Money scored on his pick while Bennett (2 sacks), Rosa (1 sack) and Pena (1 sack) collapsed the pocket a couple of times … each week, SOA keeps showing improvement and if you squint your eyes a little, you’ll realize they have the nucleus of players to build this team, right there … Reyes was in at qb and he gave the offense a spark both through the air (31-17-232-3-1) and on the ground (9-84) … every defense knows Muk-Beckem (7-61-2) is their main play-making go-to guy, but every week, we’re still talking about the kid producing … Kadie (4-105) has a gear, a real fast one … Caveman (a td catch) and Boobie (1 int) are hustlers and come up with plays ... True Grit (2-40) was involved on both sides of the field … just a few of the guys Big H has to feel good about having these youngsters under contract for at least the next 3 seasons …
At the Half way point in the season, I guess it's safe to say there is a New Season about to take place. The Red Raiders have finally arrived, partially because they take off in the fall and it usually takes them some time to get going, but boy did they get going. Wheaties was slinging the ball all over the yard and their d-fence looked good. DDubb had the Vapors rattled, that thing was over at the coin flip, but we will see if that was the Real Red Raiders and if that was The Real Vapors soon enough. On another note HOW ABOUT D&C!!?!! I knew they would cover that spread at 6 1/2, but man they put on a show, probably the game of the season, so far the silent assassin Toro dominated and Tank in his comeback season put the nail in the cofin, way to ball out and he is probably the front runner for O.P.Y, Most Improved, M.V.P, you name it, he is in the running. Now on to my biggest disappointment of the season and I know Masi and B.5mith will probably kill me, but at mid-season you guys get the C-MON MAN! We all know you got the defense and we know the resume but it's starting to look like those pieces you couldn't hold on to were the ones running that ship and not you. That offense needs to do something or the Raiders will be 1 and done in the playoffs and that would not be a good look especially after acquiring that monster Big Red again and having arguably the leagues best defensive player in the past few seasons EZE. From my biggest Disappointment to the team that's the REAL DEAL!! Not only did Mag B pass Broadway, he's got that Predator team looking like TMH use to. They have been playing better than last year and lead the league offensively and defensively, meaning points allowed and points scored for those at home keeping score. And for those of us that don't know they were the runner-ups last year looking like the clear cut favorite to run away with it all this season and give 5th that coveted 1st title that has been eluding him all these seasons. Last, but definitely not least Team X, now from where they have come from to where they are now has been a great turn around, and for the new expansion teams let them be your motivation this team was 1-15 before this season and they took their bruises like men, and now look they are playing as good as anyone. Now I would have to say they are more of pretenders then contenders but they will get some playoff action this season and we will see if these guys can really compete. Out of all the new teams, I would have to say S.O.A is the farthest along, they have Big H and Ron G as leaders, Muk-Beckham will catch anything and that guy Kadie is like a gnat at a barbecue that just won't go away. With those building blocks, maybe a couple vets that have been there done that get added next season and they get the ball rolling over there this can be a new great franchise. J.C warriors and Deceptacons have talent everywhere on these teams as well, but you guys are going to have to mix things up give guys some chances don't get to stuck in your ways and don't give up either. most importantly when your a team on the rise with no true identity yet slow the game down and focus, go into these next few games determined to either stop people defensively or put on an offensive onslaught. With all that being said don't forget guys this is all Strictly4fun!!!!!!
Last Sunday at the field, I ran into the player - whose name I'll keep anonymous - that's been posting entries as "Rich Wisen" ... told him I was a fan of his entries and that he should email me his write-ups so we can share it on the front page ... anyway, he's done that and I appreciate his contribution to the site ... so here we have it ...
